Over The Wall Residential Health Challenge and Siblings Camp
Over The Wall’s free residential activity camps are an opportunity for children and young people to reach beyond the boundaries of health challenges to discover a world of mischief, magic and new possibilities.
We offer a medically and physically safe environment that allows young people affected by health challenges to step outside of their comfort zones, establish friendships and build their confidence through meaningful and exciting activities. When we say ‘camp’ we don’t mean tents; we provide comfortable accommodation with beds!
We invite applications from children and young people aged 8-17 years, who are experiencing health challenges or who have been off treatment for up to three years.
We also welcome children and young people who have siblings experiencing health challenges (aged 0-17 years) or are up to three years off treatment. The children and young people attend without their parents or guardians.
This four-night camp is designed specifically for children and young people, allowing them to meet new friends, accomplish new challenges and, above all, have fun!
Camp Fun!
Campers are placed into teams with other children and young people based on their age, and assigned a group of volunteers. A wide range of activities await, including climbing, arts & crafts, drama, music and archery (activities can vary depending on the site). Campers sleep in shared accommodation with separate rooms for volunteers close by. All meals are provided and we will discuss any dietary and allergy requirements with you prior to camp.
Over The Wall Camps are 100% Free of Charge
Over The Wall camps are fully funded by our generous donors and fundraisers, meaning our camps are 100% fun and 100% free, for everyone, all of the time.
Providing High Quality Medical Care (as well as fun!) at Camp
Residential camps are held in a medically safe environment. Paramedics, doctors and nurses, make up our clinical volunteer team or ‘Beach Patrol’, as they’re known as at camp.
We try our best not to interrupt all the amazing activities that the children are taking part in, so all the activities are purposefully adapted around the camper’s needs, such as common medication times, at breakfast and after dinner. Beach Patrol are always on hand to provide medical support for campers during their time at camp.
We will work closely with parents and families to make sure we can safely meet the medical needs of each child whilst at camp. We provide “home-from-home” care at camp, as well as responding to all emergencies.
Dietary requirements discussed throughout your application will be catered for.
Getting to Camp
We encourage parents/guardians to bring their children or young people directly to camp. To ensure camps are accessible to as many children and young people as possible, we offer transport from the following cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Please note that not all transport is guaranteed, but we will do our very best to support your journey.
Application Deadline
We reserve the right to close applications for this camp once we receive sufficient applications. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
