We asked her to tell us more about her experience!
What inspired you to start Diversifying Group?
I founded Diversifying Group out of frustration with the slow progress in attracting candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. I wanted to break down barriers and create equal access to opportunities, fostering a more inclusive workplace for everyone.
Can you tell us about your achievement of being awarded a CBE?
Receiving the CBE was an incredible honour and a “pinch me” moment. It’s deeply gratifying to be recognised for my work and my commitment to driving societal change. This was the King’s first birthday honours list, which made it even more meaningful. I keep the award displayed proudly in my office, hoping it serves as inspiration for others to champion the causes they believe in.
What motivated you to become a trustee for the charity?
As a parent, I can only begin to imagine the immense challenges that families with seriously ill children face daily. Over The Wall Camp give these families a much-needed chance to escape, connect, and experience joy outside of their health struggles, even if just for a little while. It’s a privilege to support the charity’s incredible work and to help raise awareness so they can continue providing this essential service.
What do you enjoy most about being an Over The Wall Camp trustee?
I enjoy ensuring the charity is well-governed and equipped to continue providing fully funded camps. It’s rewarding to know that our efforts allow families to enjoy these camps at no cost, giving them a precious opportunity to spend time together and create lasting memories.
Can you share some ways you’ve supported Over The Wall Camp?
I’ve contributed my expertise in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy, assisted with fundraising, and even had members of my team volunteer their time to participate in a fundraising climb of the Mittal Orbit. These efforts help raise both funds and awareness for the charity’s work.
What excites you about the future of Over The Wall Camp?
I’m thrilled about the opening of the Ockbrook site, which will be our permanent base. This new facility will allow us to run more camps and welcome even more families, bringing them together for these invaluable experiences.
