Runners needed to raise funds

Over The Wall is calling on runners of all abilities to join its team by running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on 14 October, 2018.

The organisers of the race are no longer issuing placements to participate, however, Over The Wall has free places available. All entrants need to do is register here by 8 August, and to aim to raise a minimum of a £500 sponsorship target. Or, if you already have a ballot place and are looking for a charity to support – you can still join the Over The Wall team!

The route of the run is renowned for being flat, and is therefore great for either experienced or first time half marathon runners. Last year, 83% of the participants in 2017’s Royal Parks Half Marathon, were people running a race of that distance for the first time.

The course showcases the iconic sights of London through four Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park, and The Green Park) and takes runners through some of the capital’s most historic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade and the Royal Albert Hall. The 13.1 mile route starts and finishes in Hyde Park and over the last ten years has raised over £36million for around 940 UK charities.

Director of Development at Over The Wall – Isabel Overton, says, “Whether you are first timer, or a seasoned runner- we would love to welcome you to the Over The Wall team. Every runner that raises funds for our charity will have an impact on the number of children with illness that will experience our residential camps.”

Over The Wall’s camps are designed to enable children to reach beyond the perceived limitations of their illness and rediscover a whole new world of possibilities, helping to build their confidence, self-esteem and social skills.
